In ancient Chinese Medical Science, there are five levels of healing skills.

Level I: In this level the healer uses their hands to massage the patient.

Level II: In this level the healer adds herbs, animal products and minerals for healing. 

Level III: In this level the healer incorporates acupuncture and moxibustion in their healing.

Level IV: In this level the healer practices acupuncture with the projection of chi (prana) into the needles, meridians, and internal organs, which requires additional years of training and practice. 

Level V:  This level requires the highest healing skill, which is the projection of chi (prana) without needles or physical contact. In China and India, the technique of projecting energy has been a closely guarded secret. The projection of chi energy without physical contact is called Medical Chi Kung, and it is divided into two schools; the Internal School and the External School.

The Internal Medical Chi Kung School is more popular and it takes many years of to develop substantial chi energy. The use of one's internal energy to heal patients is exhausting. Chinese medical doctors are allowed to heal only two to three patients per day.

The External Medical Chi Kung School is less popular and almost not known to the public. This school uses energy from the air and from the earth and directs it to the patient.  The External Medical Chi Kung School is superior because it does not use and deplete the practitioner's internal energy.  A good External Medical Chi Kung Master can heal as many as 20-30 patients per day.  The practice of yogic physical and breathing exercises is important to increase the healer's healing powers. The healer can become more powerful by practicing Arhatic Yoga and other higher meditations.

The External Medical Chi Kung is taught by Master Choa Kok Sui and is easy to learn and perform healings with.  In most parts of the world, Master Choa Kok Sui's External Medical Chi Kung is called Pranic Healing.
